Newsletter!

At the beginning of the year I will send out a newsletter. This will be the only time of the year that I will send one. (Unless a parent requests a paper copy.) I will explain that students know about the blog and know how to access it and the games I have posted as well. They will be trained Math Bloggers. There will be some nights that I will give bonus points to students if they log on and play the games with a parent, sibling, babysitter or daycare supervisor for 15 min. If there is no opportunity to play the games at home I can work with that student and find recess time on a rainy day to give them a change to get bonus points as well.
I will also include a Parents section that will detail what we are covering in class as well as homework.I will post any big projects that are coming up or any activities that are happening at school. I would like this to be a virtual classroom, where students can come to remember what they have as homework or reinforce a concept that they may be struggling with.
Learning can be fun and exciting I hope to make it that way for my students.

A Whole New World!

Before learning how to put this site together I never really saw the point of a blog. Sure you could keep a diary online that everyone could read but there is definitely more to a blog. With a blog, you can help yours students see that math can be fun. There is more to math than what we cover in math class. I may not have time to share every fun thing that I come across but here I can keep a running list of all the cool extras I happen to find. I would like to see parents and kids log on and play these games together, not only will it strengthen math skills but it will keep parents informed on what their child is learning. I hope that other professionals can log on as well, to find resources and ideas to help strengthen their own teaching and classroom environments. This blog is one of many in the education community, I would love to see more teachers learn the technology.

Welcome

Hello All!
I hope you have all had a wonderful day! My goal is for us to be able to have an open line of communication through this blog. I will be posting materials for you to support your student at home. We cover a lot of materials and it can get confusing so hopefully this will make math fun and interactive!
Enjoy exploring the math blog.
